Synopsis

The story starts off with a flash back into Kojiro's past. He is ostracized for being part of a Bushi household as a child. The scene then transfers to Kojiro at home, throwing down his sword in anger, crying about being born in this bushi life. His father, Jisai Kanemaki comforts his son in assurance that being a bushi does not mean being scum but carries pride as with his sword. The moment then gets interrupted with a young Musashi.

The flashback then ends with Musashi making a slash at an Oni and quickly jumps a ride with Kojiro as they ride their way towards the Kinshin. Musashi in great happiness, tells Kojiro that he knew that his father's (Jisai Kanemaki) Bushi stories were true, while Kojiro himself thinks back to when they were kids with their dream of becoming the greatest Band of Bushi. He tells Musashi, "I...Don't really care... About becoming a Bushi" which took his friend by suprise. Kojiro explains to Musashi about how his dream of becoming a Bushi faded off and lost intrest, but Musashi being determined to make his dream come true, was sure that Kojiro will change his mind after their battle against the Kinshin, Engoku Tengu.

Once at the Kishin's location, Musashi quickly slashes it with his sword (pickax) but the Kishin quickly regenerates and begins to transform as it kept on eating the minerals of the mine. Musashi and Kojiro watch in surprised horror as the Kishin kept on growing. Everyone in the mine start to panic as they see the Kishin at it's full compacity. Some even praying to have their lives be spared for another day. Both Musashi and Kojiro get swatted by the force of the Kishin. The Kishin and the two boys are face to face with each other and with Musashi down, Kojiro needed to do something. Holding his father's sword towards the giant monster, he gets picked up by the Kishin still holding on to his dear possession. Musashi wakes up and watches his friend holding onto the sword with determination. Kojiro, still holding on remembers the bad times of living in the village, but remembers all the happy memories with Musashi and his father, giving him more reasons to hold on to the sword. He thinks to himself, if he loses the sword, he would feel like losing something special. In the end, the Kishin took the sword and quickly ate it. On the ground Kojiro lies in despair, without any hope in defeating the Kinshin and losing his sword. From behind, Musashi runs and aims an attack at the Kishin's stomach. With his weapon, he picks at the stomach hoping to get the sword back. The Kishin worshipers in the background are in fright as they see how Musashi smashed by the Kinshin's weak point... The horn.

The Kinshin in rage of trying to shake off Musashi causes itself to break it's stomach, resulting in Musashi getting Kojirou's sword back.

Handing the sword back brought Kojiro to realize just how great Musashi really is and how much that sword really means to him. With the Kinshin not moving, they assumed that they won the fight of their first Kinshin. Before leaving, people riding Kitetsuki come into the scene...
